Barry and Donna in the UK

Tube under English ChannelDriving to the coast of Calais to catch the train for the tube under the English Channel was an experience in itself. Once on the train (car and all) we only travelled for about 3 mins and we arrived in the UK. Arriving in the UK was a bit like going home, English speaking folks and diving on the left was all too familiar. The people here have been fantastic, one couple we met in Macedonia put us up for 3 nights. Peter and Peggy – just lovely people gave us access to their beautiful home in Essex in a place call Billericay. On the days we spent at Pete and Peggy’s home we caught the underground trains into London. Went and saw Big Ben, Westminster Abbey, Tower of London and London Bridge. The next day we caught half a red bus and toured the city, two lovely days.

We left Peter and Peggy yesterday 15th July and headed north east to a place called Laverham an historical town with lots of crooked houses built many hundreds of years ago. Camped last night at a water ski park, a bit of entertainment and a really nice park. Today 16th July we moved onto another place called Mersea a beach town right on the east coast and are staying in a large tourist park with lots to do and see.

Tomorrow we drive to Sylwell aerodrome in Northhamton to meet up with the Taylors for the first time since resuming the trip. Will be nice to catch up with them so looking forward to a drink and exchanging some stories. We will be on hand to take Lynn home in the event Alan does not return after his spitfire flight.
