Spinning Dolphins
Monday, April 13, 2015
A chap and his wife we have befriended invited us for a short boat trip along the coast. He owns a 45 ft cruiser and a total of eight of us went for a ride. A beautiful day. We went to the eastern tip of Atauro Island. The water colour is similar to that surrounding Lord Howe Island.
But what is unique are the spinning dolphins. These fellas are about 15 percent smaller than our dolphins and they come up to the boat to play, and boy! They’re called spinning dolphins because when they jump out of the water, THEY SPIN! Imagine a bullet exiting a barrel rotating, or an aerobatic plane doing quick barrel rolls.
They’d break off and we’d go on our way, then they’d regroup, catch us, and play more. Some of their spins would be out of control and they’d land on their tails, making huge splashes. And there could be 50 of them around the boat, zigging and zagging everywhere. Fantastic!
Alan threw out my washing! 4 days of clothes! Shopping in Bali next!
He could have thrown them out before you washed them.
