Spitfire Flight England

Hey Alan! Don’t look down!!!

After we saw Alan take his spitfire flight all four of us drove to friends of theirs: Barry and Rosemary down below London to a place called Uckfield. We spent 3 days there – was very nice. Barry and Rosemary really looked after us. Donna cooked a great meal on our last night – Vegie bake, pork medallions and stuffed mushrooms. Great meal considering she had to use a foreign kitchen. Alan and Lynn missed out on the meal as they had to leave the day before us to catch a ferry to get to Holland.

When we left Barry and Rosemary’s we had an appointment with a garage for a “MOT” (minister of transport) road worthy test on the ford ranger. It passed with flying colours. We were then able to send this teport back to our mechanics back home, Apps Mechanics. Brad was able to issue a pink slip for the ford so we could arrange rego.

Donna and I headed to the north of England up through Wales. Wales was as green as and vey picture perfect. Then we caught a Ferry Wales across to Ireland. We only spent 3 days. Weather was too wet for camping so we stayed in hotels. Went to visit Giants Causeway and a rope suspension bridge on the 2nd day. We decided to move on to Scotland and back to England on the 3rd day to chase some warmer dryer weather and head for Portugal. Scotland was cold and wet so we basically dove straight through this country.

At this stage of the trip I am over camping and prefer some home comforts and may stay more in Hotels. Last night we stayed in a nice hotel back in England just south of Wales.

As I write this smallish blog we are on a car ferry going from Portsmouth at the bottom of England to Caen in France. The plan now is to dive on into Portugal in the next 2 to 3 days and chill out there for a while.
